Award -Winning alehouse

The Compass Alehouse based at Manor Road, is Gravesend’s multi award winning alehouse, a micropub.

Opened in September 2014 by John Warden and  partner Rachael, the pub adopted a focus on pouring consistently excellent gravity drawn Real Ales chosen from an ever changing list of Kent and the UK’s select breweries. The result is like a rolling beer festival, with an ever expanding selection of specialised spirits and in particular whiskies from around the world, where Belgian, craft beer and whisky tasting events happen regularly. At its heart however, the Compass Alehouse is a small, dog friendly community focused alehouse, where all are welcome.

Over the past two years a flexible approach has had to be made towards trading. This included an online shop, unusual for a pub, but helped keep customers connected throughout the lockdowns.

The pub was voted Darent Valley and Gravesham's Pub of the Year. Working with the local council tourism department it provides part of the 'Northfleet and Gravesend beer trail'.

Compass Alehouse is also in the 'Good Pub Guide' and the 'Micropub guide'.  It has been the focus of a number of good reviews including recently, one in IRCA Today.
