Award Categories

This year we have the following categories that businesses can enter. Each business selects the categories that they feel describe them. Businesses can enter into as many categories as they feel best describes their business.

Hospitality - Pub, Bar, Restaurant

Open to all pubs, bars, and restaurants serving the Gravesham borough. This award recognises the difficult times the hospitality industry has faced throughout the pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

We will issue those entering this award with a QR code to be displayed within your premises for your clients to scan and vote for you in the community part of this award.

High Street Business

Open to all shops that are not entering the hospitality award serving the Gravesham borough. This award recognises the difficult times High Street Businesses have faced throughout the pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

We will issue those entering this award with a QR code to be displayed within your premises for your clients to scan and vote for you in the community part of this award.

Business Decarbonisation (Green)

An award recognising those who have made a positive contribution to the environment, with particular emphasis on decarbonising their business.

Such examples would be the encouragement of electric vehicle use. Heating the workspace with electric heat pumps. Generating electricity from solar and wind sources to lessen the use of fossil fuels. Decarbonising the business supply chain. Significant recycling and waste reduction.

Digital Marketing

Businesses that occupy the digital marketing space and aid other businesses to understand, use and expand their businesses using digital marketing.

Youth Owned (Under 30)

Any business that is owned by someone under the age of 30 on the 1st of January 2023. If a company with multiple owners then the company can be entered if the person with significant control ( PSC ) is someone who owns or controls the company. Sometimes called a 'beneficial owner'. 

Family Owned

Businesses that are owned by a Gravesham family. Ideally, multi-generational that has remained within the same family from its inception serving the needs of the local community.

Community Business

Awarded to a Gravesham business that serves the local community and focuses on that community. This award is not about turnover or size but the value it adds to the community as a whole.

Innovation

Focusing on businesses that are innovative, creative and forward-thinking. Businesses that invent new and better ways to do things or that create a new type of business.

Not for Profit

Awarded to the best not-for-profit business in the Gravesham borough. The business must be based in the borough.

Health and Wellbeing

Open to the health and wellbeing sectors, championing those Gravesham businesses that deliver health services and products or enhance the wellbeing of those living in the borough. This could be promoting physical activity, lifelong learning, giving back for example.

Professional / Consulting

For professions and consulting companies in the borough. If more than one outlet the professional / consulting service should have its headquarters in the borough.

Manufacturing

Gravesham-based manufacturers having their headquarters in Gravesham. Can be of any size but must create physical goods for sale and distribution.
