Iron Pier Brewery Ltd

A unique brewery

Community is at the heart of Brewery and Taproom company Iron Pier Brewery Ltd, based in Gravesend.

Established in 2017, the brewery has garnered numerous awards and prioritizes employing local people, offering them extensive in-house and external training. This approach enables staff to become competent in all sectors of the business.

This year was made even more difficult with the added national insurance hike and raised minimum wage that could have clawed back into growth profit potential.

The brewery has strong ‘green’ credentials and aside from recycling the considerable amount of cardboard it uses, reclaims the hot water used in the brewing process in large quantities, to around 3000L per brew. This not only reduces water usage, but also energy use.

Business co-ordinator Natalie McCarthy said: “I think our unique difference is our production. There aren't many businesses in the area manufacturing their product from scratch.

“I think this really does set us aside and gives us a strength. About two-thirds of the products we use to produce beer come from the UK. We do our best to buy from Kent hop producers where possible and I think this makes us different from other businesses.

“Our Taproom, our unique setting and attitude towards customers sets us apart as we have brought together a strong staff and  community presence.”
