A Deli van with a big menu

Family-owned mobile food van The Brooklyn Deli attends a number of venues within a 50-mile radius of Northfleet, selling hot food from a big menu.

It was a difficult time after the company decided to expand by buying a larger van. On its first outing, the van was hit by a bus, resulting in months of insurance wrangling and having to work with the original one. This meant keeping existing bookings covered.

The insurance company paid up, but more delays were incurred finding a specialist repair firm. However, the company has been fully back on the road and enjoyed a successful year.

Owner Matt Cottingham is proud of the menu choice.

He said: "We offer original ideas such as our 'Elvis' peanut butter and bacon burger.

"We are family-run. Our prices are kept consistently low and importantly, we often add a special customer request. Last year this included a Turkish flatbread for a Turkish birthday party and a Guinness stew for an Irish celebration.

Pilates leads to improved health

Mindful Movement is a boutique Pilates and wellness studio based in Windmill Street, Gravesend, offering expert-led movement classes in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

The core offerings by highly qualified instructors include Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates, Barre and Hot Pilates, with a strong emphasis on safe programming, education and long-term health benefits.

Beyond the adult classes, the studio is expanding into family and community wellness through the launch of children's ballet classes and ballet-themed birthday parties, leading to a confidence-building introduction to movement for younger members.

Over the past 12 months, the local wellness market has become saturated with new studios, many offering limited experience.

Mindful Movement founder Sukhi Tehara said: "We offer expert-led, safety-first programming rather than trend-driven fitness classes.
